Julie Pickering - Owner
Van Tyner - Executive Office Manager and Web Admin.
Van Tyner came to OWGA after 24 years in the banking industry. Born in Hattiesburg, MS, Van attended Pearl River Community College majoring in Elementary Education. She was a member of the String of Pearls Dance Team. Van has served her community as a Member of the Purvis Women’s Club, Asst. Director for Lamar County Junior Miss Program, and as a volunteer in numerous organizations.
Now, as OWGA Office Manager and Gym “Mom,” Van is responsible for OWGA advertising, website design and maintenance, t-shirt designs, office forms, as Director of Warrior Challenge Meet and, well, just about everything else in between. Her true assets here at OWGA are her compulsively organized personality, a designer’s mind…and a love for the children at OWGA. Workaholic, domestic diva, sports enthusiast and over-zealous pet owner—Van’s real passions are God and family…most of all, her high-school sweetheart husband, Hoyt, and her two animal children, Tucker and Lucy Jo.

Katie Malott - OWGA Head Coach
Katie Malott has been involved and has had a passion for the sport of gymnastics for the last 21 years. She has spent the last 2 years at Ball State University as the graduate assistant coach (2007-2009). At BSU, she received her master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology with a minor in Counseling.
Before arriving at Ball State, Malott earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with minors in Communication and Sociology from the University of Denver in June 2007. Malott was a four-year letter-winner for the University of Denver gymnastics team and tallied career highs of 9.825 on the vault, 9.875 on the bars, 9.725 on the beam and 9.85 on the floor. She helped the Denver team to the 2007 NCAA National Championships, the school’s first trip since 2001.
Malott has a strong leadership background as the University of Denver’s captain (05-06) and a member of the Leadership Academy (03-07).
A native of Crawfordsville, Ind., the former Katie Andrews married her husband, Kelly, June 23, 2007.
Randy Scott - OWGA Vault, Bar & Tumbling Coach
Randy has been involved in gymnastics with heart and soul for 33 years and coaching for 22 of those years. He was Junior Elite II National Champion in 1983 and USA Championship Senior Elite National Qualifier in 1987. Randy attended Arizona State University on a full athletic scholarship where he received a BA in Broadcast/Journalism and a minor in Theater Production and Performance. His coaching accomplishment include 17 Level 10 National Qualifiers, 2 Level 10 Regional Champions (one being coach Kelley Hennigan whom), and 1 USA Junior National Team Member (2nd AA @ Level 10 Nationals). Ten of his athletes have received full athletic scholarships to major universities. He is extremely excited to be at Olympic Warrior Gymnastics Academy to assist our team in reaching their ultimate goals.
Kelley Hennigan - OWGA Girls Asst. Coach

Kelley has been involved with gymnastics for the past 18 years. She recently graduated from the University of Denver where she studied Digital Media Studies and minored in Marketing. While in school she competed for the DU gymnastics team where she became the first DU gymnast to compete at the NCAA Championship all 4 years (twice with the team and twice as an individual). At DU her career highs included 9.9 on vault, 9.875 on bars, 9.875 on beam, 9.925 on floor and 39.30 all-around. Kelley achieved academic All-American status (3.5+ GPA) each of her four years at DU. Along with those accomplishments she received the Freshman of the Year Award (2007), Most Improved Award (2009), Most Valuable Player Award (2010), and was a member of the executive board of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.).
Prior to Denver, Kelley competed for Cypress Academy of Gymnastics (Houston, TX) and qualified for Level 10 J.O. Nationals six years (2000, 2002 through 2006) and was Region 3 champion in 2000. Besides competing Kelley has spent time coaching at Woodward sports camps in Tehachapi, California, and Woodward, Pennsylvania along with various other summer camps.
Jon Zugg - OWGA Girls Vault and Bar Coach
Jon Zugg has been involved in gymnastics for over 12 years. He was a 3 time regional and national qualifier as a Level 10 gymnast. Jon was the Mississippi and Alabama All-Around State Champion at Level 10. He also competed as an elite gymnast. Zugg was a part of the Level 10 Alabama state men’s team that took 3rd at 2003 Region 8 gymnastics. Jon has been coached and gained experience from Victor Firsov-Coach of the 1988 Men’s Olympic AA Champion and Vladimir Novikov 1988 Olympic Champion.
Over the years Jon has obtained coaching experience at the club and college level. Zugg was a volunteer assistant men's team coach at the University of Illinois. During his time at Illinois, the men’s gymnastics team finished 1st place at the Big Ten Championships and 4th place at NCAA Championships. He was also a team club coach at the YMCA of Champaign. Zugg has coached numerous gymnasts to state champions and has coached gymnast to qualify at the regional and national level. He has also been a member of the coaching staff at the University of Auburn gymnastics camp.
Jon is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a BS in Exercise Science.
Laurie Moore - OWGA Coach
Laurie Moore has been coaching gymnastics for 11 years. She was fortunate enough to train competitively under and later coach with several accomplished coaches in the area. Laurie was encouraged to take her gymnastics judging test and now has been judging gymnastics for over 9 years. She holds a Level 10 rating with the National Association of Women's Gymnastics Judges. Laurie received her B.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Southern Mississippi. She also is a Dental Technician at her family's dental lab. Laurie loves working with athletes and watching them develop their coordination and skills.
Geoff Stafford - OWGA Coach
Geoff has been coaching gymnastics for 5 years and helped produce several state champions, regional qualifiers, and a regional event champion. In 2005 he held the title of regional all around champion, as well as, regional champion on 3 events. Since ending his competitive career in 2006, he was part of cheerleading for 2 years and a member of USM cheerleading team. Geoff also participated in an all star cheerleading team that was ranked 3rd in the nation in 2007. Geoff is attending the University of Southern Mississippi in which he is studying to become a doctor.
Bo Wardlow - OWGA Coach
Bo has been a gymnast for 5 years. He has won several titles competing levels 5-10. He has served as a coach for 5 years. Bo was a cheerleader at the University of Southern Mississippi as well as All Stars. He has been awarded National titles in 5 different competitions.
